Dog! Controls Guide
PC and mobile movement, interacts, Codes versus Ask Dog chat, shop, and trap usage without confusing the UI.
Controls and UI overview
Dog! uses standard Roblox movement with horror-specific interacts, a left-side Codes panel, an Ask Dog chat gimmick, a shop for Coins sinks, and trap tools that change chase geometry. This page is the control-and-HUD companion to getting started. After you can move and redeem without mistakes, graduate to how to survive for round tactics.
PC movement and camera
Default Roblox binds apply unless you rebound them in settings:
- WASD — walk; combine with camera for peeks at doorframes.
- Space — jump; useful on Obby warmups and stair jukes.
- Shift (if sprint is enabled in your bind set) — short bursts only; endless circles in one room waste stamina mindset and reveal patterns to Dog.
- Right mouse / camera drag — keep horizontal sensitivity slightly lower if you plan to main the taser later.
- Click / interact key — doors, buttons, keys, chapter devices, ClickDetector props. Never walk past a highlighted prompt during objectives.
Horror tip: stop moving for half a second when you open a door so audio and camera settle before you commit into a new room.
Mobile movement and interacts
On touch devices:
- Use the dynamic thumbstick or joystick zone for movement.
- Jump button stays on the right cluster for most Roblox layouts.
- Tap prompts when the interact UI appears on doors, keys, and machines — fat-finger misses are common in panic; slow the camera before tapping.
- Pinch or use the camera pan area to check stair heads before climbing.
- Consider a grip that keeps your right thumb free for sudden interact taps during Dog chases.
If mobile input lag feels high, lower graphics slightly so prompts appear on time. Badge routes and chapter clears are identical — only the input surface changes.
Codes button (left UI)
Free Coins come from the Codes button on the left side of the screen:
- Join a fully loaded lobby or round UI.
- Open Codes on the left.
- Paste an active string exactly (
DANZLUA,100KLIKES,150KMEMBERS,200KMEMBERSwhen still valid). - Press Submit and confirm the Coins balance.
Full active and expired tables live on the Codes hub. Community reports often say codes behave case-insensitive, but you should still paste the canonical spelling from the hub so you do not invent typos.
Ask Dog chat (not codes)
Typing Dog plus a question in chat (for example Dog where are you) is a flavor interaction with the killer fantasy. It is not a redeem path.
| Intent | Where | Result |
|---|---|---|
Redeem 200KMEMBERS | Left Codes UI | Coins if valid |
Ask Dog give coins | Chat | Flavor only |
| Paste a code in chat | Chat | No shop grant |
Call Dog kitchen | Chat | Useful teamwork callout |
Keep Codes for currency and chat for callouts or Ask Dog banter.
Shop controls
Open the shop from the in-round / lobby shop entry (placement can shift slightly after UI patches — if a button moved, check updates). Coins buy:
- Traps and tools — bear traps, taser-related paths, stalls, mobility.
- Cosmetics — skins ranked on the skins tier list and unlocked via how to get skins.
Spend order for new accounts: codes → one reliable trap → taser comfort → mobility if maps feel huge → cosmetics last. Shop browsing should never replace learning interacts on the current chapter objective.
Trap usage overview (controls mindset)
You do not need every gadget on day one. Mechanically:
- Equip the trap from your owned tools.
- Find a doorway, stair lip, or retreat path Dog must cross.
- Place with the interact / place control for that item.
- Leave the tile — standing on your own plant wastes the tax.
- Call the plant so teammates do not sprint through it.
Detailed rankings live on the traps tier list. Controls-wise, the skill is pre-aiming the plant location before Dog enters audio range, not fumbling the hotbar mid-chase.
Role indicators and ready-up
Before you wander:
- Confirm whether you are survivor or Dog for the round.
- Ready only when Codes are redeemed and one trap plan exists.
- On Dog rounds, your “interact” priority becomes cutting keys and exits — see how to play as Dog.
Accessibility and quality-of-life habits
- Rebind jump or interact if they conflict with your muscle memory from other Roblox horrors.
- Use headphones — Dog audio and machine noise matter more than fancy skins.
- On shared PCs, check that shift-lock or camera mode matches what you practiced.
- Keep a notes app for personal keybinds if you hop devices.
Scripts and third-party macros (ToS warning)
Some players advertise keyboard macros, touch macros, or full executors that auto-interact, ESP walls, or teleport. The Scripts hub documents common names only so you can recognize and avoid them. Using injectors or automation that bypasses normal controls violates Roblox Terms of Service, can ban your account, and collapses fair badge progress on badges.
This controls guide assumes manual input: thumbs, mouse, and keyboard only.
Practice routine (15 minutes)
- Redeem Codes (60 seconds).
- Walk every doorway on a quiet early map and tap every interact once.
- Plant one trap on a stair, then walk the alternate path.
- Type one Ask Dog line and one real callout — confirm you did not paste a code in chat.
- Buy nothing impulsive; queue a survivor round with how to survive open mentally.
Map-aware control tips
Different spaces punish different mistakes — skim maps and the chapter walkthrough:
- House / Tom’s House — tight stairs; pre-aim interacts before turning corners.
- Radio Station — noisy devices; finish clicks fast so Dog homes on progress.
- Lab — longer corridors; camera peeks before sprinting glass-adjacent halls.
- Carnival — wider paths; place traps on chokes, not open floor vanity.
- Prison (chapter 8) — stair tax; never drop keys while fiddling with hotbars mid-yard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for survivors and players hunting as Dog.
Where is the Codes button in Dog!?
Open the Codes button on the left side of the screen after you fully load into a lobby or round. Paste codes there — not in chat.
Is Ask Dog the same as redeeming codes?
No. Typing Dog plus a question is a chat interaction. Promo codes only work inside the left Codes menu.
Do PC and mobile play the same objectives?
Yes. Movement input differs, but chapter objectives, traps, and roles are the same. Take extra care tapping interact prompts on mobile.
What should I buy first in the shop?
A reliable trap or taser-related tool beats cosmetics. Redeem Codes first, then spend on stall power before skins.
Are control macros or scripts allowed?
Automation and injectors that bypass normal play violate Roblox ToS and risk bans. Use manual controls only; read the Scripts hub as a warning.
